A drink in Honour of History.

Right now, I'm having a drink in honour of our new President Barack Obama.

It's a real privilege to be witness to a major moment like this. From this moment on, our world here is a different place, and I think a better place. Not better because our problems will be fixed over night. No, we know that won't happen. But better because we've finally busted through another major ceiling in our political history. That I can drink to.

And I am having another in mourning. Because there's a chance that Prop. 8 will pass. Pleasepleaseplease don't let that happen.

ETA: Californians who voted for this, I'm very disappointed in you. This one was a close once, but much to my dismay Propsition 8 has passed. I hope you're happy, you jerks.

If I was American I'd have probably voted for Obama.

However, to be honest, he'll probably be much the same as most politicians: self-serving, a figurehead for larger forces at work in the background and generally not holding up to his promises.

If we want to look at his career as a politician truly critically, then yes, he probably won't be much different. But then again, he might help spearhead something better. Only time will tell. However, I would've given my left arm not to see Palin anywhere near the Whitehouse.

Bastard counties east of us (and Solano county) did this. Fuck them. Now it just means we need to fight harder for what's right.

Contra Costa had a lot to do with it, too. Contra Costa County has the highest concentration of Mormons in this state, and the Mormon church has been the one financially spearheading this campaign.

I hope they enjoy the taste of their own hypocrisy.

/sigh

I just want to drink tonight to forget the narrow minded people around here.

Yup. That's pretty much what I did. I stayed up until about 3:00 am drinking.

I hope your family's happy and that they enjoy the taste of their own hypocrisy.

Balls to my parents I say.

I really don't even want to get into it with my parents because I am so unhappy with them about this.

I don't even want to be at home at all at the moment.
